Hi boys and girls, here is the summary of our last class on the 15th of December 2011.
Aviso: El próximo día, a peticion de los asitentes , tendremos examen. Pero "Don't worry" habrá dos niveles y el objetivo de los mismos es ver si hemos asimilado los contenidos tratados durante estos meses.

Vocabulary:

1-Revisamos el vocabulario que ha aparecido a lo largo de las cinco unidades.

2- Como ya hemos visto anterior mente algunas palabras pueden desempeñar diferentes funciones en la oración.

Por ejemplo:
Cook: A cook (noun) is someone who cooks  (verb) food.
Orange: An orange (noun) is an orange (adjective) fruit.

Talk: it can be noun (conversacion, charla ,negociaciones) or verb(hablar).
I had a long talk with him.(estuve hablando un largo rato con el)
He is going to give a talk about pollution.(El va a dar una charla sobre la contaminación)
The two leaders met for talks.(Los dos líderes se reunieron para negociar, dialogar)
I speak English and Chinese. (Hablo ingles y chino.)
Head: it can be noun (cabeza,director/a,persona…), or verb (encabezar,dirigir).
Mary has her head in the clouds (Maria tiene la cabeza llena de pajaros.)
He is the head of the new department store (El es el Nuevo jefe del centro commercial)
They paid 15€ per head  (Ellos pagaron 15€ por cabeza)

Drink: it can be noun(bebida,trago,copa) or verb (beber).

They usually heat the baby’s  room before sleeping. (Ellos normalmente calientan la habitacion antes de dormir)

Pon los adverbios de frecuencia para que sean verdad segun tu pais.

Para acabar la clase hemos escuchado un listening sobre un famoso cuadro de Toulose-Lautrec y  depues teniamos que contestar a unas preguntas de comprension. A continuacion tenís las preguntas , la foto del cuadro y el texto integro del listening junto con la traducción:

Listening

Listen to a guide in an art gallery talking about At the Mouline Rouge. Answer the questions:

1.        What was the Mouline Rouge Famous for?

2.        Who did Toulouse-Lautrec include in his posters and paintings?

4. Why do people think he liked painting dancers?

     OK, now the painting we are looking at now is by the french painter Touloouse- Lautrec. The   painting is called At the Moulin Rouge. As you probably know The mouline Rouge is a night club in Paris. Maybe some of you remember the film Moulin Rouge? In the 19th century, the nightclub was very famous for its beautiful dancers and singers. Toulouse-Lautrec did a lot paintings and posters of the Moulin Rouge. He specially loved painting the dancers. and in these paintings he sometimes included his friends too.

      In the middle of the painting there are ffour people who are sitting at a table having a drink. The woman who's wearing a hat is a dancer- her name is La Macarona- and the man sitting next to her on the left is a friend of Toulouse-Lautrec. He was a photographer.

     On the right, here,  there's a woman with fair hair, blue eyes, and very red lips. Her face looks very white. That's another famous dancer called Jane Avril. At the back of the picture, on the right, there are two women who are standing together.One of them is touching her hair. That's La Goulue and she was one of the most famous singers at the Mouline Rouge at that time.

      Now this is very interesting. If you look carefully to the left of the two women, there are two men walking out of the nightclub. One of them is very tall and the other one is very short. The very tall man is Toulouse-Lautrec 's cousin, Gabriel, and the other man is Toulouse -Lautrec himself. Toulouse- Lautrec was only 1 metre 50 centrimetres tall. he had very short legs and couldn't walk very well, people think that this is why he loved painting the dancers of the Mouline Rouge- because they all had beautiful, long legs.

Translation

“Ok, ahora el cuadro  que estamos mirando ahora es de un pintor francés llamado Toulouse-Lautrec. El cuadro se llama “En el Mouline Rouge”. Que como probablemente sabrás, The Mouline Rouge es un club nocturno de Paris. Quizás alguno de vosotros recuerde la película Mouline Rouge? En el siglo 19, el club era muy famoso por sus bellas bailarinas y cantantes.

Toulouse- Lautrec hizo un montón de cuadros y posters del Mouline Rouge. A él le gustaba especialmente pintar bailarinas. Y en esos cuadros he a veces incluía a sus amigos.
En medio del cuadro hay cinco personas que están sentadas en una mesa tomando una bebida. La mujer que lleva un sombrero es bailarina- su nombre es La Macarona- y el hombre que está sentado a su lado a la izquierda es un amigo de Toulouse-Lautrec. El era fotógrafo.

A la derecha, aquí, hay una mujer con el pelo rubio, ojos azules, y labios muy rojos- su cara parece muy blanca. Esa es otra famosa bailarina llamada Jane Avril. Al fondo del cuadro, a la derecha, hay dos mujeres que están juntas de pie. Una de ellas está tocándose el pelo. Esa es La Gouue y ella era una de las más famosas cantantes del Mouline Rouge en esa época.

Ahora esto es muy interesante. Si miras cuidadosamente a la izquierda de las dos mujeres, hay dos hombres saliendo del club. Uno de ellos es muy alto y el otro es muy bajo. El hombre alto es el primo de Toulouse-Lautrec, Gabriel, y el otro hombre es  Toulouse- Lautrec. Toulouse-Lautrec solo medía un metro cincuenta. El tenía las piernas muy cortas y no podía caminar muy bien. Algunas personas piensan que esta es la razón por lo cual a él le encantaba pintar bailarinas del Mouline Rouge- porque todas  ellas tenían bonitas piernas largas.”
