Tras esta larga e interesante introducción hemos centrado la atención en la unidad 3 del English For Adults II, concretamente en el uso de There was/were tal y como aparece en las pp.27-28. Recordad ambos significa "habia" pero en ingles existen dos formas :
There was /There were (Había)
Para dar información nueva sobre algo que existía o estaba presente en algún lugar determinado (en tiempo pasado).1)) Utilizamos THERE WAS o THERE WAS (NOT) / THERE WASN’T con nombres en singular o nombres incontables.
Ejemplos:
There was a restaurant in your town called Martello.
There wasn’t any coffee in the kitchen.
2)) Utilizamos THERE WERE o THERE WERE (NOT) / THERE WEREN’T con nombres en plural.
Ejemplos:
There were three restaurants in my town.
There weren’t children in that park.Exercise 9b:
Completa las oraciones usando there was, there were, thre wasn't, there weren't segun la fotografia:
1-there weren't 2- there was 3- there wasn't 4- there weren't any curtains (cortinas) 5- there was some homework 6- there were some photos.
Exercise 9c pp 28:
Escribe preguntas y contestalas segun estaba tu habitación esta mañana.
1. Were there any pens on the desk? Yes, there were./No, there weren´t.
2. Was there a schoolbag in your room? Yes, there was/ No, there Wasn't.
3. Was there any clothes on your bed? Yes, there was/ No, therewasn't.
4. Were there some any notebooks on the floor? Yes, there were./ No, there weren't.
5. Was there any fod on the desk? Yes, there was./ No there wasn't
